This Zine will include a main SFW zine AND a bonus NSFW zine, both released in print AND digital formats.

This project features 26 Page Artists, 10 Writers, and 7 Merch Artists.

Artists will be able to draw either a single page, a double page spread, or a 3-4 page comic.

Merch Artists will be required to make 2 pieces of merch, digital or physical.

Writers are expected to write a 1.5-2.5k word story (up to 250 +/- words)

All applicants MUST be 18 + by the beginning of the creation period in order to apply.

It is important that contributors are able to adhere to the schedule. We understand that life stuff happens, so if an extension is needed, please let us know ASAP so we can plan accordingly. If two consecutive check-ins are missed without any communication, then unfortunately, we will have no choice but to remove the contributor from the project and seek out a pinch hitter as a replacement.

Any contributor found promoting hate speech, racism, transphobia, or pedophilia will not be allowed. (This is in real-life context and values - not fictional preferences)

Trigun does contain darker themes. Contributors do not have to interact in any space they may not be comfortable with. We will have NSFW channels locked; that way, only contributors who are participating in the NSFW Zine or would like to collaborate on such works will be allowed to be a part of said channels.

Page Artist contributors will be expected to create at least one fully rendered piece. These illustrations can be either double-page spreads or single-page pieces. Comic Artists can create works that are anywhere from 2-4 pages.

Page / Comic Artists must show at least 3 samples of your best work. We will be evaluating applications based on:

Composition

Use of color

Anatomy

Style

Strong and vibrant character interactions

Make sure your samples are in an easy-to-access format such as a Google Doc, web link, .pdf, .jpg, .png, etc. (no .psd please!)

Your portfolio should have 5-20 completed works that showcase your overall style.

This can be a Google Drive folder, Carrd link, Instagram account, or other art portfolio platform. Tumblr art tags and Twitter moment compilations are allowed.

We will not accept social media profile links as a portfolio.

Traditional artists are welcome to apply. However, you are required to send in your final piece as a HD scan at 300 dpi. Samples should be high-quality photos.

Merch artists will provide designs that will go on merchandise.

Merch Artists must show at least 3 samples of your best work.

Please submit samples that reflect designs made specifically for merch. These do not have to be previously produced in any way. However, both design images and clear product photos will be accepted.

If you are looking to make prints or wallpapers for this Zine, please submit samples with backgrounds or complex patterns.

Short Story Writers will provide self-contained works of fiction.

Writers must show at least 3 samples of their best work.

The word limit for each excerpt sample is 1500, with completed works ideally ~2000 words, with a max of 2500. If you go over by a little (ex. about 100 words), that is acceptable.

Your pieces should include the following elements:

Grammatically correct prose / writing

At least one complete piece that is not an excerpt from a longer work of fiction.

Your samples should showcase your command of voice, diction, style, and pacing.

Trigun / Millions Knives works are encouraged but not required.

Your portfolio should have 2 or more additional works that showcase your overall style.

This can be a Google Drive folder, an AO3 page, a fanfiction.net page, or any other fanfic archive hosting site.

You must be 18 or older to apply

Subjugate is an all-inclusive zine that does not discriminate against creators based on who they ship or what they create or consume. We will not tolerate harassment or anti-behavior, and therefore, we expect the same from our moderation team. If you have any discomfort regarding specific Knives ships or potentially problematic content, this is not the zine for you.

All Mods, regardless of role, are expected to be able to be active, respond in a timely manner, help in selecting the contributors, and help keep the theme for the zine consistent. We also expect all Mods to give honest and unbiased opinions on contributor applications.

The Finance Mod will be expected to find and work with suppliers for the zine to produce products as well as keep an organized and tidy spreadsheet. This way, they are able to declare all finances to all other mods. They will be in charge of the zine's PayPal account.

The Finance Mod will:

Be in charge of the zine's PayPal account, and be responsible for ensuring orders for physical merch are placed in a timely manner.

Keep digital receipts when orders are placed between manufacturers for the sake of financial transparency and create as well as maintain an up-to-date finance spreadsheet to detail all purchases using the zine's PayPal account.

Work with the Shipping Mod to make sure that all physical merchandise will be received at the correct address for packaging costs.

The Formatting Mod will be in charge of creating the final template for the zine and the overall design for the zine itself, assembling all contributor works into a print/pdf format.

This role requires previous Formatting Mod experience or relevant layout design experience.

The Formatting Mod will:

Format the pieces created by contributors into a print/pdf format.

Be familiar / proficient with at least one publishing program (such as Adobe InDesign etc.)

The Shipping Mod will receive all items ordered by the Finance Mod, and will be responsible for packaging said orders in accordance with the types of bundle orders that are received in a timely manner. The bundles are expected to be packaged safely to ensure that when they are shipped, they will arrive safely to contributors and customers alike.

The Shipping Mod will:

Receive physical items ordered from manufacturers during the production period.

Store and keep the merchandise safe and packing supplies until all items are received.

Provide photos of the physical items for use in social media updates :).

Pack and ship bundles to customers and contributors in a timely and fashionable manner.
